Angels and the Christmas Story
The Christmas story is full of angels 👼 👼 👼 ... Angels bring messages from God to Mary, Joseph and the shepherds. God sends the angel Gabriel to ask Mary to be the mother of Jesus, His Son. God sends an angel to ask Joseph to take care of Mary and her special baby, Jesus. Mary and Joseph both say ‘yes’ to God. They go to Bethlehem.
In the fields shepherds are looking after their sheep 🐑 🐑 🐑. An angel tells good news: ‘God’s Son is born in Bethlehem to bring God’s blessings to the world’. A host of angels fill the sky 👼 👼 singing: ‘Glory to God. Peace for everyone on earth.’ The shepherds go to Bethlehem, as the angel tells them. They find baby Jesus in a stable lying in a manger. They kneel in wonder 😊 and thank God for sending his Son to help us.
🐫 🐫 🐫 Later, wise men follow a star from the East to see the new baby king. They bring gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh 🎁 🎁 🎁 for God’s Son. They bow down to worship baby Jesus and go home full of joy 😊.
An angel warns Joseph that King Herod wants to kill Jesus. Like refugees today, Joseph, Mary and Jesus escape to Egypt until it is safe to come home.
Like Mary Joseph and baby Jesus many people are homeless, poor and hungry today. God asks us to help anyone in need, in any way we can. What can we do?...
We can support Christingle and Gift services in church, the Shoebox Appeal, Food Bank, charities like Crisis... we can say yes to God. We can be God’s angels, bringing joy to people at Christmas...
