The little donkey carries Mary to Bethlehem to be counted by the Roman rulers. Bethlehem is busy, there’s nowhere to stay. A kind innkeeper lends them his stable. Baby Jesus is born. Mary lays him in a manger for his bed. A bright star shines above.
Out in the fields shepherds look after sheep. An angel gives them good news:
A baby is born in Bethlehem who brings God’s blessings to the world. Angels fill the sky, singing:
‘Glory to God. Peace on Earth.’ The shepherds find baby Jesus in a manger. They kneel down and thank God for giving us his Son.
Later, wise men come from the East to see the new baby king, with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
They kneel down to worship Jesus and 😊 go home full of joy.
An angel warns Joseph that King Herod wants to kill Jesus. The little donkey carries Mary and Jesus to Egypt until it’s safe to go home. Like refugees today Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus are poor and homeless in a strange land. We can help refugees and people in need in our Christingle and Gift services in church, fill a Shoebox, give to Food Banks and charities like Crisis... we can all bring joy to people at Christmas.
